MPR is a project created by Samus Prime's AetherLabs team for the Metroid community, remastering Metroid Prime. SP started the project in March of 2018 and since has grown a team of dedicated individuals to work alongside him at making this graphical remaster one of the best fan remasters possible. MPR is a mod created with a custom version of Dolphin Emulator based on PrimeHack-Ishiiruka, hand made custom HD textures created by Samus Prime and Team MPR, as well as material maps, a lighting overhaul and much more. This project delivers entirely original content and falls under emulation laws as you require a physical copy of the game to play.

This is an intensive project and requires a lot of work. This project will be released in phases, as we are doing each world in order first. Make sure you sign up to our mailing list to be notified when the mod is finished.

Frequently Asked Questions
When will Phaze 2 be released?
We have no official release date planned for Phaze 2, but hopefully soon. Our biggest bottleneck for releasing is the production of handmade textures, with the majority of the diffuse textures and material maps being made by Samus Prime. The Frigate Orpheon alone required more than 600 textures to be remade by hand. We are actively looking for more artists to join Team MPR, this would greatly speed up our production and allow us to release much sooner.

Why has MPR taken so long to release? (Began in 2018)
This is a legitimate question. The reason is simply, in 2018, there was only one member of Team MPR, Samus Prime himself. Since then the project has grown in size with the addition of new members such as Ray3D leading the technical graphics, and has had a massive change in direction requiring older work to be redone to maintain our standards, as well as major advancements including: the introduction of material maps with Tinob's Ishiiruka, followed by Ray3D's lightmaps, followed by SirMangler's dynamic lights. Additionally, the project temporarily came to a standstill in 2020 for almost a year due to personal reasons and real life events.

We are currently on track for significantly faster production in the project with roughly half of the Frigate Orpheon being completed in 2021. We have been developing tools and techniques for a long time, including tools specifically for development outside of Frigate such as for Chozo Ruins.

Are you only doing the Frigate Orpheon?
We have full intention of completing the entire game, however we are working in phases that are in the order of the worlds the player visits. This started with Phaze 1: Frigate Orpheon. We have already made significant process for Phaze 2.
What do I need to play MPR?
All you need is a physical copy of Metroid Prime 1 or Metroid Prime: Trilogy dumped in a Dolphin Emulator compatible format (such as ISO or WBFS) in order to play. NKIT is known to cause problems. Please be aware that not all versions of Metroid Prime 1 for GameCube are natively supported for all features, such as Keyboard&Mouse Controls/Modern GamePad controls and the FoV slider. See here for a full list.

We absolutely do not support piracy in any form. MPR is not designed to support any illegal copies of Metroid Prime. You must dump your own copy of Metroid Prime on a Wii or Wii U.

Can I join the project?
We are absolutely looking for more people to join Team MPR! If you have any experience with graphics design, texture art or graphics programming, or any other way to contribute to the project, please let us know!
